The Advanced Image Processing Specialist (AIPS), under the direction of the Signal Processing Supervisor, performs specialized pre- and post-processing of data sets from appropriate diagnostic imaging modalities to support radiologist-initiated research. Specific functions include processing of data for image reconstruction and analysis, using independent judgment to select tumor boundaries, assessing quality of parametric maps and registration, and archival of processed and raw data for future use. The AIPS coordinates data retrieval and quality measure requirements, with collaborating study teams and reports back to study team. Prepares quantitative imaging data for statistical analysis and works with biostatisticians to ensure data analysis adequately addresses research questions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports the Vision Lab by assisting in evaluating software packages, initiating training on new software packages, and optimizing standard operating procedures for pre- and post-processing of clinical examinations
  • Undertakes clinical research imaging projects in collaboration with imaging physicians and scientists to ensure optimal image acquisition and development of processing pipelines
  • Uses appropriate specialized hardware and software to ensure that all routine and advanced imaging data sets are processed according to timelines and specifications of clinical research studies
  • Manages imaging data and analysis information by preparing quantitative imaging data for statistical analysis, documenting, processing, and archiving all relevant quantitative research analyses, and coordinating data retrieval for collaborating study teams
  • Uses independent judgment and knowledge of anatomy and imaging to delineate tumor and normal tissue regions for further analyses
  • Performs QA of imaging data and post-processed products on a regular basis including identification of imaging artifacts and assessing the validity of registration algorithms to determine their potential impact on analyses
  • Performs in-services with imaging technologists to assure that all acquisitions are performed appropriately and that post-processing is accurate and efficient
  • Performs other related duties assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the institution
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in in a related field is required
  • A degree in Imaging Technology is preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program preferred

Minimum Experience:

  • Five (5) years of experience as an advanced level technologist in CT, MR, or PET/CT required
  • Experience must include MRI data acquisition for basic and advanced imaging and spectroscopy protocols and two (2) years of 3D processing experience using commercially available software such as Vital Images, Siemens, Leonardo, GE Advantage, Windows, etc.

  • None

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:

  • (L: ARRT) Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in either radiology (ARRT-R) or nuclear medicine technology (ARRT-N) is required.
  • CT and/or MRI Specialty Registration from ARRT are preferred

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $65,520 - $114,400 per year for the role of Advanced Image Processing Specialist.
