What you will do:

The Operations Specialist II - DisCo will report to the Production Manager at the Charleston site. This position will be responsible for identifying and initiating process improvement initiatives focused on improving efficiency in a safe and environmentally friendly and stable manner, reducing cost, and increasing customer satisfaction. In addition, this role will participate in cross-functional process improvement teams to achieve targeted results while ensuring compliance with all laws, conserving resources, and meeting corporate production planning and quality requirements, as well as be responsible for efficiency and effectiveness of systems and processes, data integrity, process documentation, and training.

  • Work hand in hand with the department's maintenance gatekeeper to ensure scheduled and planned maintenance jobs are ready to be worked on
  • Provide process leadership to relevant technology projects, consulting with cross-functional business experts as needed; has business ownership for assigned projects; and is responsible for ensuring that the system and related processes meet new and existing business needs.
  • Identify and provide process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide expertise in Distillation and/or Conversion production processes.
  • Develop and promote solutions using technology and technical methods to increase efficiency and productivity of production.
  • Work closely with engineers, maintenance, operators, and other operations/technical specialists. May be involved with training, testing and development of operators.
  • Participate in development or review of standards within area of expertise.
  • Work with a higher degree of independence with large, complex, or multiple production processes/departments, including responsibilities with Process Safety Management, Advance Process Control, and PI Vision
  • Support and advise Team Members in areas of safety and quality.
  • Drive process improvement activities within team as well as focus on improving efficiency, reducing cost and increasing customer satisfaction.
  • Serve as a liaison with departments to represent requirements on projects implementing new or revised system functionality.
  • Ensure all safety and environmental related maintenance and technical controls are done in a timely manner and all P&ID are kept up date.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to achieve targeted results.
  • Oversee testing, training, documentation, and communications.
  • Oversee and ensure that position's systems and related processes meet changing business needs.
  • Continuously evaluate processes and deliver solutions to increase efficiency, productivity, consistency, data integrity, and ease of use
  • Consult with business experts' company-wide to understand business needs and design and deliver effective solutions.
  • Provide guidance to team and business leaders, including executives, on process recommendations.
  • Participates in department on call rotation.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

What we need from you:

  • Internal: High School diploma with Chemical Operator Processing Certificate
  • External: Associate degree or higher in a technical field
  • 4+ years of professional experience in a technical/production environment required
  • Proven process improvement and project management skills in a manufacturing company required
  • Experience in process improvement and working with various computer application systems (i.e., SAP, Scheduling software, and project management software) preferred
