What You Will Do as a Director of Distribution:

This position provides leadership and management direction to distribution operations managers at Henning and Covington relating to financial, operational, and administrative functions. Provides input and data to define distribution strategies and goals; ensuring all operations align with the business plan. Implements changes and process improvements to maximize location capabilities and performance.

How You Will Make a Difference:

  • The primary responsibility of the Director of Distribution is to lead, manage and coordinate their assigned distribution function(s) for the assigned location(s). This includes ensuring company performance objectives are met at the lowest cost while maintaining positive customer relations through quality and service. This position also manages staffing, training, employee development, financial forecasting and budgeting.
  • Directs and manages staff. This includes hires, terminations, scheduling, training, and salary administration.
  • Manages and solves employee issues and concerns to create an atmosphere of openness and maintain an informed work force that knows and understands company policies and business goals. This includes handling general inquires, providing problem resolution, acknowledging accomplishments, taking corrective actions, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Establishes and maintains budgets and cost controls with on-going financial accountability. Responsible for forecasting and tracking expenses through A/P reports and operating statements.
  • Manages distribution process and works closely with touchpoints to ensure customer expectations are met. This includes managing costs, methods, quality assurance, and transportation.
  • Leads, directs and drives continuous process improvements to reduce costs, improve quality and improve our service levels (on time shipping, same day shipping).
  • Develops strategies for their assigned distribution centers to deliver the company expectations and metrics.

Skills for Success:

  • Years of Related Professional Experience: 10+
  • BS/BA degree (MBA a plus to have)
  • Experience in distribution leadership & management
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, WMS, AS400)
  • Strong knowledge of financial terms
  • Budgeting and P&L ownership experience
  • Must understand work flow and incentive pay practices
  • Knowledge of environmental, safety, and employee relation laws
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001
  • Limited travel required (5 - 20%)
