Nurse Manager - Pediatric Care Center

ChristianaCare Health System is seeking a Nurse Manager for our Pediatric Care Center located at our Women's & Children's building on our Newark Campus. The 24-hour Pediatric Care Center will provide 24/7 combined short-stay inpatient and emergency. The 8,400 square-foot facility will provide seven beds for emergency care and seven beds for short-stay inpatient and observation care. The center will also provide expert care to children and adolescents with behavioral health emergency needs and provide appropriate referral sources for follow-up care.

In this role, the Nurse Manager will be responsible for:

• Assures compliance with regulatory and professional standards.
• Identifies priorities of leadership and management responsibilities and demonstrates the ability to delegate.
• Enables a relationship-based care approach to care delivery on assigned unit.
• Performs routine leader rounds on patients and caregivers on assigned unit to establish visibility, teamwork, and monitoring the level of care/practice.
• Remains cognizant of risk management issues and takes appropriate measures to address.
• Supports and communicates department and unit-based quality and safety initiatives.
• Manages nursing practice and care delivery in designated unit.
• Promotes the autonomy of the nursing staff, encouraging independent decision making and problem solving.
• Supports and facilitates a culture of nursing professional governance on unit.
• Formulates and effectively executes innovative leadership strategies to promote excellence.
• Responsible for staffing and scheduling, allocating paid time off to meet staffing needs for unit census. .
• Maintains position control in a cost-effective manner.
• Interviews and hires potential employees, assuring the technical and professional development of staff.
• Coaches, disciplines and evaluates staff according to CCHS policy

Requirements:

• Master's Degree in Nursing required.
• RN Licensure required.
• BLS certification required.
• 5 years appropriate clinical and leadership experience required
• Current Professional Certification required
• Nurse Executive certification preferred
