Job Brief

Research new and existing technologies and formulate concepts or ideas to create new processes, electronic initiating systems, products and methods. Ascertain the application suitability and feasibility for new designed electronic initiation products.

System Design Manager, Dyno Nobel Inc., Simsbury, CT:

Research new and existing technologies and formulate concepts or ideas to create new processes, electronic initiating systems, products and methods. Ascertain the application suitability and feasibility for new designed electronic initiation products and system concepts through feasibility studies and prototype development. Work collaboratively with internal and external resources to maintain thorough knowledge of product requirements and goals. Generate specifications and liaise with the relevant internal and external technical resources to fully develop a new concept or idea. Follow DetNet policies, procedures, project flow process ensuring all gate requirements are met. Ensure the development safety requirements and processes are followed (FMEA, HARA, HAZOP's). Idea/patent/ IP generation through the stimulation of an innovation and technological development culture within DetNet. Liaise with patent attorneys regarding patent queries in the US. Work closely with global supplies of applicable technology to ensure effective integration and industrialization of the latest technology. Keep up to date with competitor products, patent applications and emerging technologies. Communicate project timelines, changes and updates to the project manager to achieve agreed project outputs. Provide support to the engineering and production teams in achieving full industrialisation and implementation of developed concepts, ideas and technologies.

Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, $148,764.00 per year.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related field and 8 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate related work experience; or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related field and 6 years of related work experience. Must have 6 years of experience in all of the following:

  • Experience with analogue and digital circuit design;
  • Experience in Altium Designer; and
  • Experience with writing of various engineering specifications.

Must have 5 years of experience in hardware and software development related to initiation systems.
Must have 3 years of experience in all of the following:

  • Experience with electronic initiator ASICs development; and
  • Experience with the Patent process in the field of electronic initiation.

Domestic travel required up to 10%, and international travel required up to 10%.
