The Product Lifecycle Planner will assist in the execution of a comprehensive process for Portfolio Management including supporting the business unit Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning process, New Product Development Core Teams, and Product Obsolescence process.

This role will, for assigned projects, ensure constant communication and collaboration among the R&D project team, marketing, regulatory manufacturing/operations, procurement, and the supply chain throughout the pre-commercialization NPD planning phases through launch. In the post-launch period, the role will lead performance measures to ensure accurate launch execution. This position will require the jobholder to demonstrate their existing experience and knowledgebase to continue to evolve and improve the NPD planning process. What will you be doing?

  • Ownership of all NPD up-stream finished goods planning activities including demand and supply planning, inventory planning, and MRP system readiness.
  • Provide key Supply Chain input into the early stages of Product Development, Acquisitions, and Product Change projects.
  • Responsible for managing cross-functional coordination and alignment of all finished goods supply requirements.
  • Prepares for and participates in NPD team meetings, Franchise Phase Reviews, ESIOP and other meetings associated with reporting NPD status.
  • Regularly presents to leadership the status of NPD supply readiness, planning assumptions, and associated risks and mitigation plans.
  • Ensure products are rolled out to new markets in a controlled manner, with no impact on Service and Supply or KPl's within the bounds of defined control mechanisms.
  • Responsible for seamlessly transitioning supply planning to down-stream supply chain organizations.
  • Coordinate and influence the setting up of part numbers and master data across all ERP systems, with a focus on continuous improvement and accounting for data accuracy, systems, and business strategy alignment.

What will you need to be successful?

  • BA/BS in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 5 to 7 years experience required.
  • APICS certification a plus, Continuous Improvement, Project Management.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, decision making and presentation skills.
  • Strong influencing skills to effectively get results across all teams, areas and levels of business affecting the forecast process.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
  • Leader in new product planning, demonstrating the ability to envision technical and organizational solutions in this field.
  • Balance multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to solve problems, applying expertise in business intelligence and data solutions to drive standard methodologies and innovative solutions.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and champion the advancement of new information that will improve the ability of management to own the business.
  • Knowledge of Demand Planning or other software related to demand planning is preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Understands regulatory and business requirements in the Medical Device industry to proactively anticipate and address potential issues in demand planning and forecasting.
  • Perform all activities in compliance with relevant GMP and Quality Systems standards and specifically with FDA Quality System Regulation and EN46000.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knows and adheres to the quality policy of the company and the quality-related procedures and instructions,
  • Reports any deviation in product or process, of which they become aware, to their manager or the Quality department.
  • Completes all training in the area of Quality and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice)
  • Immediately report any dissatisfaction or complaint which is brought to their attention from a customer or patient regarding a Smith & Nephew product (e.g., in terms of quality, durability, reliability, safety or performance) to the complaints department.
  • Aligns with all health, safety and environmental policies, procedures, and job hazard analyses applicable to specified job activities; including medical evaluations as required by job function.
