Position: Quality Technician
Location: Lexington, TN
Position Overview: Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Follow ALL safety procedures and attendance requirements.
  • Perform butt weld testing for chain making production. Cut, Heat Treat, and break samples. Document all results in the appropriate location.
  • Perform Tensile test on various products such as chain, master links, hooks, and
  • Perform Hardness Testing on various products such as chain, master links, hooks, and assemblies utilizing Rockwell, Brinell, and Knoop testers.
  • Analyze samples from repair stations utilizing the various techniques in the lab.
  • Perform bend test on all products as required.
  • Check, inspect, on all incoming material.
  • Perform periodic calibration and verification on all gages and measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers. Maintain digital records of the calibration.
  • Verify plating finish visually and check plating depth as necessary.
  • Check case, core, and surface hardness of case-hardened chain.
  • Perform evaluations on internal and external samples a s required. Documenting and reporting all physical, mechanical, and metallurgical aspects of the samples as required.
  • Perform chemical analysis on materials via the spectrometer, or the atomic absorption tester as required.
  • Prepare samples for metallurgical evaluation by cutting, mounting, and polishing as required.
  • Perform metallurgical evaluation of components utilizing the microscope or stereoscope.
  • Maintain physical and digital records of all testing and analysis in the QA databases.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness in the QA lab.
  • Enter all test results in the PC based Database.
  • Visually audit product and process for defects.
  • Communicate audit findings to Operators & Management.
  • Inspect all load chain prior to shipping. Verifying the correct chain and providing the appropriate tags and approvals.
  • Perform other duties as required by Management.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five months' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs. safely.
