Job Description/Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Coordinates warehouse activities and directs staff performing routine duties as part of an EnergySolutions warehouse operation. Compiles and prepares reports on various warehouse activities, coordinates ordering merchandise and assists in the overall management of warehouse operations, including developing policy, procedures and plans.
  • Performs, directs and oversees warehouse operations for EnergySolutions. Directs warehouse functions for the purpose of prioritizing project deadlines and ensuring optimal use of personnel. These tasks are necessary to ensure smooth company operations and customer requirements being met.
  • Monitors assigned programs and/or projects (e.g., general fixed assets and inventory) for the purpose of conforming to administrative, state and/or federal requirements.
  • Obeys all safety regulations and legal documentation standards associated with warehousing.
  • Receives and logs incoming freight shipments. Verifies freight against invoices and purchase orders, reporting any discrepancies.
  • Obtains signatures on receipt of items and completes necessary inventory records.
  • Determines proper storage methods, identifying stock locations based on turnover, environmental factors and physical capabilities of facilities.
  • Uses loading and unloading equipment to store items in the warehouse, to stock shelves and to retrieve items from storage according to requests.
  • Packs and unpacks items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms.
  • Marks stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools or other labeling equipment.
  • Coordinates and participates in the physical inventory of warehouse items, compiling inventory records and preparing reports, as needed; organizing surplus property storage; and identifying losses.
  • Verifies inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigates discrepancies/adjusts errors.
  • Monitors inventory to maintain adequate supply of items.
  • Fills orders from stock, rotates stock and delivers items to designated locations according to schedule.
  • Retrieves and places outgoing freight on shipping docks.
  • Issues or distributes materials, products, parts and supplies to customers or coworkers, based on information from incoming requisitions.
  • Compiles order requests from various sources, ensures compliance with specifications and determines type and quantity of items to order. Prepares purchase order requests and notifies purchasing agent of order specifications.
  • Procures equipment, supplies and materials for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently. Examines and inspects stock items for wear and defects, reporting any damage to his/her supervisor. Disposes of damaged and defective items or returns them to vendors.
  • Evaluates performance of materials ordered to ensure purchasing the most economical and durable products. Ensures staff uses appropriate procedures and safe practices and ensures optimal utilization of personnel and other resources.
  • Directs and oversees the work of warehouse workers as applicable. Assists in planning, assigning and reviewing the work of warehouse workers and prioritizing the delivery schedule. Evaluates employee performance and provides input on performance appraisals as applicable.
  • Maintains appropriate records and prepares reports on various warehouse activities as directed. Answers incoming department telephone calls for the purpose of routing and/or responding to telephone requests for information/services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements/Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detailed knowledge of the various parts, materials, and supplies associated with facility maintenance and operations
  • Detailed knowledge of the methods and procedures related to receiving, processing, storing and distributing a variety of parts, equipment and supplies
  • Detailed knowledge of purchasing terminology, specification, development and bidding procedures
  • Detailed knowledge of automated financial and purchasing records, database systems and recordkeeping
  • Ability to work with employees at all organizational levels
  • Ability to make mathematical calculations using fractions, percents and/or ratios with speed and accuracy
  • Ability to establish and maintain a variety of records, files and operational systems using a computer
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lb
  • Intermediate knowledge of the use of Microsoft Office products required to perform job
