Job Description

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic scientific writer to join the . CEPIO was established in 2023, and will serve as the central hub to advance and coordinate cross-disciplinary studies in immuno-oncology across St. Jude basic and clinical Departments, Cores, and Centers and is co-led by , Department of Immunology, and, Department of Bone Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy. The Scientific Writer will join a highly collaborative research team that strives to build and maintain a culture of respect, diversity, and inclusion. Responsibilities include:

  • Provides writing and editing support to assist faculty and trainees with the preparation of manuscripts, including writing, editing and creation of graphics.
  • Provides writing and editing support to assist faculty and trainees with the preparation of grant application, including writing, editing and creation of graphics. May provide refinement of scientific ideas and edit grant application narratives to communicate a compelling vision/concept.
  • Assists faculty and trainees with grant application and manuscript revisions based on comments from peer reviewer and editors and with drafting responses to peer reviewers and editors.
  • Develops and maintains resources to assist faculty in the submission of manuscripts and grants including boilerplate text and figures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the center and institution.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, Biomedical sciences or related field required.
  • Master's degree OR PhD preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum Requirement: 2+ years of relevant experience in communications, journalism, English, Biomedical sciences or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in advertising or marketing, social media, journalism, and writing in life sciences or healthcare environment.
  • Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $70,720 - $126,880 per year for the role of Scientific Writer - Center of Excellence in Pediatric Immuno-Oncology (CEPIO).
