JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for training, directing and developing all warehouse personnel to ensure accurate, on time and damage-free movement of products into and out of the warehouse, in the most cost-effective manner. This is a working supervisor position and requires performing the essential functions of the warehouse staff as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop, implement and administer policies, procedures and controls to receive in-bound products in an accurate, timely and cost effective manner.
  • Develop, implement and administer policies, procedures and controls for the order selecting and delivery process of out-bound products in an accurate, timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Develop, implement and administer policies, procedures and controls to monitor physical inventory and cycle counting.
  • Train, develop, evaluate and discipline warehouse personnel. This includes planning, scheduling personnel, scheduling break and lunch periods, monitoring employee workloads, documenting employee performance and conducting performance reviews to fit operational needs.Also includes enforcing and abiding by Company policies and procedures.Will inform the HR Department of problems as they arise.
  • Direct, assign and monitor the work of warehouse personnel to ensure accurate and timely receipt and delivery of product. This includes receiving, replenishment, order selection and loading of outgoing orders.
  • Ensure timesheets for hourly personnel are accurate and complete prior to payroll processing.
  • Work with outside vendors on maintenance, purchases and to maintain low shipping rates.
  • Utilize labor and warehouse equipment for maximum order accuracy and productivity in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Stock and rotate products as necessary, utilizing the first-in, first out or first expired first out method.
  • Ensure all paperwork for incoming and outgoing shipments is completed properly and given to the appropriate department(s).
  • Schedule inbound and outbound LTL shipments.
  • Reschedule and inform customers of any missed deliveries.
  • Assist with development, implementation and administration of policies, procedures and controls regarding the company food safety program.
  • Communicate with the Purchasing Department on pick-ups or returns of products received.
  • Take incoming calls from drivers, customers and LTL carriers.
  • Review receiving activities daily continuously throughout the day; adjusting staff as needed.
  • Communicate with the management and other departments on a daily basis to maintain effective warehouse operations.
  • Perform the duties of the Warehouse and Lead personnel, including picking orders, receiving, replenishment and loading to assist with the work requirements.
  • Audit orders prior to loading or delivery to ensure accuracy, completeness and neatness of order.
  • Train Warehouse Associates on use of material handling equipment including initial training, quarterly training and as needed.
  • Promote a safe and efficient work environment for all employees.
  • Assisting the Safety Committee which includes: Daily inspections, follow-up on any safety concerns, and ensuring the safety of all employees, guests, vendors, etc.
  • Oversee outside storage and inspect work to ensure correct application of receiving, storage and handling of product.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Oversee maintenance of the facility, material handling equipment and vehicle fleet.
  • Communicate any property issues with the Owner of the Company.
  • Work hands-on with employees during the orientation and training period by inspecting orders.
  • Provide feedback and change warehouse procedures as needed to achieve the greatest accuracy and efficiency possible.
  • Perform or assign maintenance work as needed.
  • Coordinate special deliveries with other supervisors or departments and schedule the delivery.
  • Open the building as needed.
  • Act as Supervisor in the absence of the supervisor on other shifts, if necessary, during his/her time of absence.
  • Maintain a clean, neat and safe warehouse environment.This includes all aisles being swept daily, pallets are neatly stacked and garbage is discarded.
  • Handle damaged items, including clean up, segregating them, log and tape the bags.
  • Maintain all material handling equipment.This includes checking fluid levels on fork lifts and pallet jacks, plug in lift trucks and pallet jacks into chargers at the end of each shift, and address any defects or possible equipment problems. Schedule repair or maintenance for Company vehicles.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • Associate degree in business, warehouse management, logistics or operations or four years of experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
  • 1-year previous supervisory experience, including training, development and evaluation of employees.
  • Must have excellent computer skills, including previous experience working with Warehouse and Transportation Management Systems.
  • Excellent analytical and planning skills.Able to plan and be proactive to prevent time spent reacting to problems.
  • Must be familiar with, understand, abide by and enforce all Company policies and procedures.
  • Able to safely operate and become certified in the operation of all warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks and shrink wrap machines.
  • Must be able to operate basic office equipment including telephones, copy machine, fax machine and computer (Microsoft Word, Excel and Lotus notes).
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and supervision skills to aid in the development, direction, delegation and discipline of staff. Must be understanding of people and their problems, diplomatic and have a sense of fairness and consistency.
  • Able to communicate effectively in both oral and written format. Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Must be flexible to changing customer or operational demands and able to work overtime on short notice. Position requires working until the job is complete.
  • Must be an excellent problem-solver, organized and attentive to detail. Position requires an order selection accuracy of 97% or higher.
  • Able to perform the physical requirements of all warehouse positions.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
  • Experience in a fast-paced distribution environment and experience working with common carriers and UPS.
  • Previous forklift certification.
