Description

In this role you'll be an energy policy, regulatory and utility rate expert, and project manager. You will perform data analysis, research, and synthesize information to develop policy positions, options, and recommendations supporting the transmission needs of GRE's member-owners. The intern will be responsible for working across multiple transmission functions and roles - providing an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in many fields.

  • Supports transmission strategy development with data analysis, including costs and revenues associated with providing wholesale transmission service. Develops and reports recommendations on the priority of transmission facility upgrades considering value and risk.
  • Model financial impacts of alternatives to support transmission decision-making.
  • Gathers and synthesizes information from transmission regulatory proceedings to anticipate future regulatory needs.
  • Develops business terms and risk management positions of transmission contracts
  • Develops an understanding of the overall company including mission, customers, and the wider industry by collaborating with other interns and engaging in internal workshops. Develop and present a capstone project at the end of the internship.

Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, economics, finance, or related field.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication ability.
  • Ability to analyze data, synthesize information, consider multiple viewpoints, develop conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Demonstrated skill in problem solving.
  • Must be a self-starter and comfortable with problems that involve ambiguity and tradeoffs, not black-and-white answers.

Physical Requirements
  • The majority of work will be performed in a normal office environment.
  • The ability to clearly and comfortably view, interpret, and process information via a computer monitor for extended periods of time during normal working hours is required.
  • Some tasks may require repetitive motions, i.e. computer work.
